No! The Chromium browser engine is bundled with IDM Crawler. You can start crawling immediately after installation. No extra downloads or setup required.

The installer adds IDM Crawler to your Start Menu and creates shortcuts. The portable version runs from any folder without installation — great for USB drives or testing. Both include the bundled browser.

Go to File → Browser → Clear Browser Cache. The browser will be re-extracted on your next crawl. This is useful if you encounter browser launch issues.

We're exploring cross-platform support. Currently, IDM Crawler is optimized for Windows 64-bit. Updates on other platforms will be announced.
